Abbotts Barton
What Are We?
The Abbotts Barton Community Group is formed of local volunteers, who organise activities and share information to support and grow the communities of Abbotts Barton. We try to serve everyone who lives in the estates around Abbotts Barton, Northlands Drive and Courtenay Road.
We are independent of Winchester City Council, but we work closely with them to facilitate community engagement. We are becoming a charity so that we might access grants and raise funding for activities and projects that benefit the community.
One of our most exciting projects is our bid to take on, renovate and reopen the old Barn Stores. This fantastic building was built in 1799 and is located at the heart of Abbotts Barton. It served as the convenience store when the estate was first built but has since closed. The Community Group would like to return it to community service, providing a shop, and cafe and becoming a historic asset that will make our community proud.
We need the support of our community to make this happen and we will be holding feedback and engagement events to discover what you’d like this building to do.
